Coach House Accents Compatibility & Installation

When it comes to homes, people do in fact judge a book by its cover. Your home’s exterior sets the precedent for visitors and neighbors alike and can have a major impact on your home's value when it comes to taking out loans and putting it on the market. Having a high curb appeal is vital to any home, which is why North Shore Commercial Door carries Coach House Accent’s full line of garage door decorative hardware and window overlays to enhance any traditional or contemporary home without costing you a fortune. Whether it's decorative hardware and Signature or Heritage window overlays, CHA makes it easy to install them in minutes!

Check Garage Door Compatibility

Before purchasing from Coach House Accents, it’s important to confirm that the window overlays can fit on your garage door. To measure the fit prior to installation, see the video below or continue reading.

Coach House Accent’s window overlays are designed to cover the panels of a garage door (if you have any). If your door is flat, you’re good to install! If you have a long or short design, be sure the length or each panel is at least 45 ¼" long and 16 5/8” tall.

Coach House’s decorative hardware needs to have at least three inches of space between the stamped area and the edge of a garage door for installation, while handles need a minimum of 3” between two panels to install a single handle, and up to 7” to install two.

How Many Kits Do You Need?

Before beginning your project, make sure you have enough accessories for your specific door:

  • A single car garage needs: one window kit & hardware kit.
  • A 2 car garage needs: two window kits & one hardware kit.
  • A 3 car garage needs: three window kits & two hardware kits.

Installation Tips

The materials you will need for the installation is an electric drill, 1/8” drill bit, tape measure, Phillip's head drill bit, small ladder or step stool, pencil or marker, and a level that is optional.

Window Overlay Installation

  1. Remove the windows from their boxes. Lay them out along a closed garage door and use the measure tape to determine the spacing for a symmetrical look.
  2. Using the ladder, hold the window up to the desired location on the door. Check your spacing. Mark the 8 holes with a pencil once the window is in place.
  3. Using 1/8” drill bit and electric drill, drill the 8 marked pilot holes.
  4. Set the windows back in the open box and remove the protective film backing.
  5. Insert a screw from the front into the hole. Press the rubber washer in leaving about ½” of the screw sticking out of the back. Repeat for the other 7 screws.
  6. Place the windows on the door. Line the screws up with the pilot holes. Starting with the middle 4 screws, secure the window to the door.
  7. Repeat the process for the other windows. BE SURE to check your spacing from Step 1.

Hardware Kit Installation

Before anything, determine where you want to place your hinges. Generally, they look best at the top or bottom of a garage door panel.

  1. Hold the hinge up to the door where you want to place it. Mark the holes with your pencil.
  2. Drill the marked holes with the 1/8” drill bit and the electric drill.
  3. Using the screws provided in the kit, secure the hinge into the pre-drilled holes.
  4. Repeat for the other hinges.

Handles

  1. Mark the holes of the handle using a pencil.
  2. Drill pilot holes using the 1/8” drill but where marks were just made.
  3. Place the handle on the door and secure it using provided screws.
  4. Repeat if necessary for other handles.

There you have it! Enjoy your garage door's new facelift.
