The PowerMaster 38-03862 replacement clutch assembly from North Shore Commercial Door is for replacing clutch assemblies on PowerMaster model 8 hoist-style commercial garage door operators. The clutch protects the door, the electric operator and other equipment from undue stress or damage caused by starting forces or an obstruction to your commercial garage door. It should be set no tighter than is necessary to smoothly and consistently move the door throughout its full range of travel.

When properly set, it will slip freely if the door should encounter an obstruction, and it should be possible to stop the travel of the door by hand. Normal wear and tear will result in the need to replace your clutch assembly. The clutch can also slip due to loose or missing hardware or defective springs. The clutch pad should be replaced when it becomes difficult to tighten the clutch enough to ensure smooth operation of your door.
